GUFFAW Student Grants
The Journal of Nursing Jocularity™ (JNJ) is the only publication by nurses, for nurses. All nurses. Even, yes… student nurses ;-)
The profession, as you’ll see, is more than just what the books can teach you. It’s about real life, it’s about the experiences we have that nobody else has, and how we each handle the ups and downs
that comes with the job. It’s why we publish JNJ.
To that end, JNJ has dedicated itself to the growth and experience of student nurses with its Gotta Understand Funny For Assisting Wellness™ (GUFFAW) Program. This unique program invests $250,000 annually for grants to help student nurses learn from other nurses that have been there, done that, and survived to talk about it.
In accordance with National Student Nursing Month, on March 1, 2009 JNJ will be accepting grant applications for a 6-month subscription to the Journal of Nursing Jocularity™ to nearly 12,000 student nurses all over the world.

I remember when I was a nursing student – I thought I knew so much! It wasn’t until I got into a unit with some men and women who have been doing this a while that the learning REALLY started. The best thing they taught me was that a sense of humor was the only thing that lets you deal with the things we have to deal with (hey, it was either laugh or cry ;-) It’s been the driving force in my career as a nurse, as a speaker, and as a publisher. And it’s one of the ways I think we can give back to those who helped us.
